چکیده

PLC is a popular communication channel for broadband access, multimedia sharing and as a smart grid. However, there are many disadvantages in PLC and causes deterioration of signal quality, bit error and electromagnetic interferences. High voltage (HV) PLC has been designed ,analyzed and implemented in various modulation protocols such as 4D-TCM,OFDM etc., however study has not been made to investigate its performance in OFDM in QPSK under HV corona noise effects. Corona noise is one of the most influencing noise in high voltage PLC. In HV PLC, corona noise in various weather conditions becomes more dominant and it results a considerable amount of bit error. In this paper , in addition to Additive White Gaussian Noise(AWGN) the effect of corona noise in BER had been investigated. We have used the most popular model of PLC channelthe Zimmermann and Dostert model. The multipath HV lines of 400KV and 220KV installed by Power Grid Corporation of India in the state of Assam has been used for simulation and analysis. Simulation of OFDM with QPSK and the resulting BER under corona noise has been determined.

Single-Carrier Frequency-Domain Equalization for Orthogonal STBC over Frequency-Selective MIMO-PLC channels

In this paper we propose a new space diversity scheme for broadband PLC systems using orthogonal space-time block coding (OSTBC) transmission combined with single-carrier frequency-domain equalization (SC-FDE). To apply this diversity technique to PLC channels, we first propose a new technique for combining SC-FDE with OSTBCs applicable to all dispersive multipath channels impaired by impulsive...

Simulation of a Narrowband Power Line Communications System over Medium Voltage

Narrowband Power Line Communications (NB-PLCs) are investigated as an alternative option for transferring low rate smart grid (SG) data via Medium Voltage (MV) power lines. In this framework, two variants of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing are examined, namely Filtered-OFDM (F-OFDM) and Wavelet-OFDM (W-OFDM), in an attempt to determine which of them is capable of transmitting low rat...

Modeling and Analysis of the Effect of Impulsive Noise on Broadband PLC Networks

The impulsive noise is the main cause of packet errors in power line communication networks. In this paper, the bit error rate (BER) and medium access control (MAC) protocol analytical models under impulsive noise interference are developed. The accuracy of the developed models is verified by computer simulations. In the computer simulations, the Poisson arrival of the impulsive noise is simula...

Unitary Matrix Frequency Modulated OFDM for Power Line Communications over Impulsive Noise Channels

Power line channel is the time-frequency variant channel with impulsive noise. Therefore, power line communication makes performance degradation due to time-frequency variant and impulsive noise. To overcome performance degradation, we consider the unitary signal constellation scheme and investigate the performance improvement of unitary matrix frequency modulated orthogonal frequencydivision m...

High-speed Power Line Communication System based on Wavelet OFDM

Recently, the demand of high-speed network in home is increasing. PLC (Power Line Communication) is expected as one method of realizing it. OFDM is one of the methods, which realizes high-speed PLC. But the minimum stopband attenuation of OFDM modulation is only -13dB. It indicates that OFDM subchannels are not spectrally isolated, therefore OFDM is sensitive to the locations of narrow band int...
